Position Summary
The Staff Data Platform Engineer will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of DB2 LUW databases. You will ensure integrity, stability, and high availability of Linux and AIX-based DB2 database environments in your day to day. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advanced DB2 operational support, observability/monitoring/alerting admin, automation engineering, backup/recovery, HADR implementations, database architecture and design, application support and advising, vulnerability management and remediation, compliance, security, audit requirements, periodic access reviews, user access listings, process/database performance tuning, version upgrades, access methods and approvals, vendor collaboration/ticketing, task leadership, team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
As part of the database operations team, you will work with peer DBAs, SMEs, application owners/developers, project teams, and vendors to support and maintain current implementations as well as implement new builds or initiatives per requirements. The role will assist in assuring the database implementations are secure, compliant, and adhere to minimum security requirements as set by CVS Health. You will use your knowledge, skill set, and experience to support application requirements and make recommendations for improving existing and future processes. You will aid in reviewing new product enhancements, new or different features, updates for future usage patterns, and general engineering/planning.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of combined experience in database administration and engineering
- 5+ years of DBA experience working with IBM DB2 LUW databases
- 5+ years of DBA experience working on Unix/Linux systems with command line expertise and shell scripting knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of IBM/DB2 features and products like database partitioning feature (DPF), IBM Q- Replication, DB2 native encryption
- Advanced knowledge of configuring and maintaining HADR, Power HA environments
- Advanced knowledge of database backup and recovery operations, testing of those operations, and managing disaster recovery plans
- Advanced knowledge of database performance and monitoring, optimization, and tuning strategies
- Advanced knowledge of monitoring/alerting tooling, observability dashboards, compliance/security/audit requirements, change control, and incident management
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance routines, upgrades, and patching requirements
- Ability, experience, and willingness to work off-hours for application release support, maintenance windows, upgrades/patching, compliance, on-call support requirements
- Experience working with cloud database environments on GCP, Azure, AWS in PaaS/IaaS solutions
- Experience with automation technology (for example, Ansible and Terraform)
- Experience with deployment pipelines (CI/CD) with GHA, GitHub, Jenkins
- Ability to collaborate with DB peers, work well as a team, and work independently with little oversight

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$106,605.00 - $213,210.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
