Staff Counselor

Health and Counseling Center

St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Staff Counselor. The Staff Counsellor is a member of the university counseling services team and provides mental health support to students. This is a salaried, exempt 11-month position, with the option of not working during June or July.

For consideration, the applicant must be licensed as an LPC, LCSW, or Psychologist in the State of Texas at the time of hiring and demonstrated experience providing counseling and crisis intervention to young adults. Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.


Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Provide short-term counseling to individuals and groups, with a focus on providing services to students in St. Edward University's College Assistance Migrant Program.
  • Provide mental health services to clients during all stages of care, including triage, initial assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, crisis intervention, and referrals to appropriate resources on and off campus.
  • Provide outreach and consultation to students, staff, faculty, and other campus partners.
