Staff Assistant III

Overview

The Management Department in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business seeks applications for an experienced Staff Assistant (Staff Assistant III). The department consists of sixteen full time faculty and supports over 500 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.

Responsibilities

The Staff Assistant performs a variety of administrative support duties in support of the Management Department at the direction of the Department Head. Typical functions include but are not limited to:

• Providing administrative support to the department head, faculty, and graduate programs team.
• Performing routine office duties including but not limited to answering phones, directing calls to appropriate parties, data entry, appointment scheduling, and other duties as assigned.
• Assisting in maintaining departmental records and processing financial and other transactions.
• Coordinating the implementation of required instructional support such as course evaluations.
• Coordinating with the department head and other stakeholders to ensure that information about the department is disseminated accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assisting with various projects and assignments as needed.
• Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

The successful individual is expected to use their knowledge and experience to complete tasks of significant scope as required, and to demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and sound judgment in the timely execution of their responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

• Four years of experience in an office setting; OR an associate's degree/technical training plus two years of experience; OR a bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with technology platforms widely used at USU including but not limited to Banner, and Canvas.
• Knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, inter-personal communication, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information professionally.
• Ability to work without supervision and to take initiative.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Skilled with computer programs such as Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets, presentation software, and email/calendaring tools.
