Job Summary:  
Our client sources content from many regulators and exchanges, with scope to add many more. Our client’s AWS Platform Engineer will be responsible for the operations of our SaaS micro-serviced product and automated content management in Amazon Web Services. The ideal candidate will be strong in Python scripting, CI/CD setup and experienced in cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp  of emerging technologies, platforms and applications, with the ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud codebase deployment, maintenance, and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping us on the cutting edge. 
From day one, our AWS Platform Engineer will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT and content operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth. The successful individual will have the opportunity to work in a team empowering the DevOps spirit, operating at every stage of the Software Development Lifecycle and working on next-gen solutions within the AWS cloud.

Key Responsibilities

• Your mission will be to ensure our engineers have the right tools to build and deploy their applications and AWS services effectively.
• Be responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Manage a continuous integration and deployment methodology for microservices and Lambda functions.
• Work alongside engineering teams to design and implement robust, scalable and secure software services.
• Implement continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Work in tandem with our software engineering teams to review CloudFormation / CDK deployments and recommend process and architecture improvements.
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding infrastructure.
• Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for AWS solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
• Work with the product teams to ensure that the solutions being worked on are in accordance with their requirements.
• Ensure the highest level of data security to protect our clients’ information assets. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Skills: 

• Deep knowledge of AWS infrastructure and services
• Containers and Cluster Management (ECS, Docker, Fargate)
• Code deployment scripts and CI/CD automation pipelines
• Infrastructure-As-Code (CloudFormation, CDK)
• Serverless including AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, Event Bridge
• Networking infrastructure, VPCs, ALBs, firewalls and security groups and more
• Agile principles, processes and tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• Strong analytical skills
• Attention to detail
• Mindset focused on continuous improvement

Experience:

• 3 years of working experience using AWS
• Hands-on experience of working with Python and Git
• Experience building and maintaining cloud-native SaaS applications

Nice to have:

• Microservices and event-driven architecture
• Apache Airflow experience
• Experience providing infrastructure for Big Data

Qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science or a related subject

• AWS Certifications
