Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to three days a week.

As a UX designer you will have empathy for the user, a deep understanding of user-centered design (UCD), and strong analytical abilities. You will understand technical limitations as well as business strategies and goals, backed by a knowledge of different technologies. You will conduct user research, interviews, and surveys and use the information to craft sitemaps, customer journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes.

Role summary and job responsibilities

  • Is an authority in all aspects of the UX design process
  • Designs and oversees overall programs and strategic direction of UX design and workflow, with a focus on quality, TCO, maintainability, and security
  • Sets the expectations for design practices and ensures they are known and adhered to within the area.
  • Owns the design of a significant or complex UX-focused system or set of components
  • Leads design reviews and actively participates in providing feedback on others’ designs
  • Partners with business unit leaders to drive UX strategy based on business unit landscape
  • Decomposes the most complex problems into discrete work units
  • Identifies non-obvious relationships and anomalies often overlooked by others
  • Balances strategic and pragmatic concerns when solving problems
  • Makes sound decisions with limited facts or resources

Business knowledge

  • Demonstrates deep knowledge of products/flows within the businesses they support
  • Can shape strategy based on a clear understanding of the business unit’s strategy for opportunities and risks
  • Makes decisions that are cognizant of the firm’s broader business strategy

Requirements

  • Typically has 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and technologies and knows when/how/if to apply them appropriately
  • Converses in many technologies and methodologies and learns new technologies quickly
  • Communicates design vision to all parties involved in a project
  • Evaluates designs, even those not written by themselves
  • Considers the operational aspects of a system, long-term supportability, maintenance, etc. Extends the half-life of software
  • Sets expectations for design practices and ensures they are known and adhered to within the area
  • Use Figma to present designs and collaborate with the team
