Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Tax Analyst to join our Income Tax Operations Team. This critical role focuses primarily on U.S. federal and state tax compliance and provision processes. Additionally, you will participate in the global consolidated income tax provision reporting, including foreign tax provision activities. We're looking for a proactive team player who excels in a dynamic environment and actively contributes to the continuous improvement of our tax processes.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Tax Compliance
- Prepare detailed book-to-tax adjustments for U.S. federal consolidated income tax returns.
- Prepare state apportionment schedules and modifications necessary for accurate state corporate income tax filings.
- Complete and review U.S. federal consolidated and state corporate income tax returns.
- Prepare U.S. tax compliance for international companies including workpaper for CFC’s and disregarded entities (Forms 5471 and 8858).
- Calculate and manage quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments.
- Utilize advanced tax technology solutions and internal reporting tools to gather, analyze, and interpret complex tax data, identifying opportunities to streamline and enhance existing processes.
- Tax Provision
- Assist in the preparation of global quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, including creating thorough supporting workpapers and documentation.
- Calculate and analyze current and deferred tax liabilities and manage federal and state FIN 48 tax positions.
- Review and analyze foreign income tax provisions prepared by local country finance teams to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 740) and internal reporting requirements.
- Other Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support U.S. federal and state tax audits, preparing relevant documentation and responding timely and accurately to information requests.
- Conduct research and prepare responses to various tax notices from U.S. jurisdictions.
- Leverage software applications such as Corptax Compliance, OneSource Tax Provision, Alteryx, and AI technologies to enhance productivity and streamline deliverables.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining the company’s tax-related policies and procedures.
- Monitor and analyze changes in tax legislation and accounting standards, proactively assessing and communicating their potential impacts on Mattel's tax reporting and provision computations.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in accounting or finance. Master’s degree in business taxation or accounting and/or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years (with a Master’s) or 5 years (with a Bachelor’s) of relevant tax compliance and provision experience, ideally within a large multinational corporation or public accounting firm.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Proficient with MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel
- Oracle and/or HFM experience a plus
- Must have strong work ethic and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to manage competing priorities and accelerated deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate with varying stakeholders and business units.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Aptitude to adapt to organizational changes.
- Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment.
The annual base salary range for this position is between $121,600 and $145,000
