Job Purpose

Lead all segments of the company’s supply planning process including the master production schedule and long-range capacity plans. Maximize each plant’s capabilities, product and volume mix, and shift structures to ensure current and future demand requirements align with manufacturing capabilities and meet the company’s financial goals. Oversee product transitions to minimize obsolete and excess inventory, while communicating and coordinating with all appropriate functions within the organization for product life cycle management.


Essential Functions

  • Lead team of production schedulers, inventory analysts, and supply planners to efficiently plan and utilize the company’s manufacturing capacities, generate the most efficient and accurate production plan, and support an optimal mix of inventory to exceed customer expectations at lowest possible landed cost
  • Track team performance to assess customer impact, distribution network use, financial performance, production plan accuracy, inventory overage or obsolescence, out-of-age product, and timely and accurate processing of transactions
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and development of the team and other support departments to ensure clarity around delivery of the most efficient and optimal production and logistics plan
  • Create and utilize in-depth analytical tools to support issue resolution, decision making, and execution oversight
  • Collaborate cross functionally to optimize the use of the company’s production capacity, inventory, and distribution storage network
  • Align with production, sales, and customer service to ensure clear expectations for fulfilling obligations and meeting commitments to all customers (internal and external)
  • Oversee the resolution of product availability issues for customer orders through root cause analysis
  • Coordinate responses to customer service planning issues, ensuring impact is resolved and systematic and sustainable corrective actions are deployed
  • Review and approve/reject monthly charges and other adds related to over-production, transitions, and associated impact to plants, company, and logistics financials
  • Identify and develop new systems, tools, planning processes, and capabilities to improve production planning and distribution and delivery of customer service
  • Validate overall departmental spending relating to inventory and distribution plan out of the production facilities, along with capturing and communicating all variances
  • Facilitate the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process and ensure alignment to customer and financial requirements with manufacturing and supplier capabilities
  • Ensure proper KPI reporting by reviewing production planning and all associated input/output of process at micro and macro levels
  • Ensure alignment of human resources and asset requirements to meet sales plan through plant production and inventory planning meetings
  • Establish and drive improvements to KPIs, including inventory (gross/net dollars, DIOH), Slow Moving/Obsolete (SLOB), production attainment, and customer service (OTIF)
