Senior Embedded Software Verification Engineer - Surgical Robotics
In this role, you will join a world class team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of the globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform within the Surgical Operating unit:

A Day in the Life
Join our dynamic team at the forefront of surgical robotics innovation!
- You’ll leverage your expertise in software architecture, detailed design, and requirements analysis to craft robust test strategies and develop automated C++ tests that run on embedded platforms in real time. Your work will be instrumental in detecting software defects early and ensuring our software features meet functional requirements, as well as the highest standards of quality and safety for every milestone release.
- Expect hands-on engagement with sophisticated, embedded real-time platforms. Your automated tests will verify the readiness of embedded software for milestone releases and detect defects in complex interactions, including interactions between multi-processes, interfacing with control algorithms, and safety systems, and sensors, hardware I/O, or user interfaces. Your work will help safeguard robot operations and patient outcomes.
- Expect hands-on engagement with sophisticated, embedded real-time platforms. Your automated tests will detect defects or verify the readiness of the embedded software for milestone release. You will verify the complex interactions including interfacing with sensors, hardware I/O, control algorithms, and safety systems. Your work will help safeguard Robot operations and patient outcomes.
- As an integral part of an Agile scrum team, you’ll collaborate with developers throughout the release cycle, troubleshoot defects, enhance software testability, and drive improvements in test coverage across data paths, scenarios, and component interactions.
- You’ll help shape the future of our VnV framework by developing test software within a standardized framework, promoting consistency, modularity, maintainability, and efficiency. Your contributions will make our test framework simpler, robust, efficient and scalable. You will help improve the standard framework.
- You’ll also mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge across the VnV and development teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Minimum Must Have Requirement
- Bachelors Degree in engineering or related field and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
To Be Successful in this role:
- Master’s Degree in engineering or related field with at least 3 years of software development experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- Proficiency in C++ design and coding (medium to advanced level).
- Proficiency in Python coding (medium to advanced level).
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M, AVR, or other microcontroller platforms.
- Experience with QNX or Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for teamwork and successful collaboration.
Nice to Haves
- Knowledge of hardware design, specifications, and software-hardware interfaces.
- Experience with safety-critical product development.
- Experience verifying medical devices controlled by software.
- Familiarity with FDA guidance and standards (IEC 62304, ISO 26262, ISO 21434).
- Experience with manual and automated test script development and execution; understanding of test protocols.
