PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Develop and enhance analytical tools and processes to improve data accessibility and usability. Design, develop, and deploy cross-functional technical solutions and integrations with other modules. Assess the impact and gaps in the current business processes for the payment systems modules and provide alternatives and recommendations on the delta design. Conduct Performance Tuning to optimize system performance, enhance data accessibility, and reduce downtime through code adjustments and RESTful APIs that improve communication between network applications. Analyze and design data integration processes to ensure seamless data flow between systems. Monitor and periodically test system performance—identifying and documenting any performance bottlenecks, with proposed mitigation strategies. Provide regular updates on project status, potential risks, and timeline of deliverables to team leaders and business stakeholders. Work with the Application Architects to perform gap analyses and translate them into business requirements and functional design specifications. Document all implemented solutions, complete with the functional and technical specifications installed to ensure successful end-user support. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field, plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a three or four-year degree.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Design and Kotlin or Java (3 years)
2. Experience with Android Studio and Gradle (2 years).
3. Experience with Jetpack libraries (3 years)
4. Experience with REST API integration (3 years)
5. Experience with Data storage and persistence technologies: Room, SQLite, SharedPreferences, and DataStore (2 years)
6. Experience with Version control using Git (1 year)
7. Experience with unit testing (Junit) and UI testing (Espresso) (2 years)
8. Experience with debugging using Logcat and Android Profiler (3 years)
