A Lot About You

As a Software Development Engineer for the Video team, you will be working on all the different components that deliver engaging video experiences to Yahoo’s sites like Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo News, AOL and TechCrunch. You will be collaborating with different teams to brainstorm ideas, define architectures, design software and build services, components and User Experiences.

Responsibilities

• You would be part of defining the features and workings of the Video Platform that can support the next generation of products at Yahoo, using the latest technologies, frameworks and open source tools

• Help to scope, plan, and implement best-in-class software practices, procedures, and delivery

• Contribute to implementation guidelines and execution strategy for your team’s goals

• Collaborate with your peers, product managers, and engineering leaders on new features and enhancements

• Support production deployments and debug issues that may come up from time to time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Software development experience in JavaScript/TypeScript and related technologies/frameworks

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)

• Strong fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, databases and networking

• Experience designing, implementing and maintaining web services

• Experience with JavaScript tooling like Webpack, ESlint, and optimising performance of web applications

• Have a solid understanding of OO design principles, concurrent programming, performance tuning and observability

• Predisposition towards testing, instrumentation, and documentation.

• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and version control

• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks 

• Experience in JS unit and functional testing and related tools like Vitest, Jest, Jasmine, Mocha, TestCafe, Playwright, etc

• Experience with testing services like SauceLabs, BrowserStack, Appium, and LambdaTes
