Position Specific Description

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to serve as the Sr. Project Director of Nuclear Construction, overseeing all aspects of nuclear construction projects from planning and development to execution and delivery. This role is critical to ensuring the successful and timely completion of large-scale, complex nuclear projects, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.  

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in nuclear construction, strong leadership abilities, and a track record of delivering multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects.  

 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Management experience in all phases of a nuclear construction project, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.  
•    Develop and implement strategies to ensure project goals align with organizational objectives, timelines, and budgets.  
•    Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on project progress, risks, and strategic decisions.  
•    Ensure the delivery of projects on time, within scope, and within budget, adhering to the highest standards of safety and quality.  
•    Experience with managing construction while coordinating with nuclear plant operators and the NRC
•    Monitor and manage project performance, identifying and mitigating risks and resolving issues promptly.  
•    Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, and financial forecasts.  
•    Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, contractors, suppliers, and local communities.  
•    Ensure alignment and communication across all project stakeholders.  
•    Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to nuclear construction and operations.  
•    Lead efforts to meet nuclear safety and quality assurance requirements throughout the project lifecycle.  
 

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the overall management of assigned organization and projects, to ensure compliance within required budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals. Employees in this role coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site. Successful candidates manage the engineering, procurement and construction oversight-activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start-up, and commence commercial operations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Works collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans
•   Meets corporate objectives with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
•   Manages department resources to provide effective early-stage project development support
•   Ensures projects are efficiently, effectively and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures and policies
•   Manages walk down of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests
•   Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed
•   Leads project meetings and reviews budget, risk tracker, and contingency allocations
•   Interfaces with project's designated management committees, or acts as Executive Director of project activities
•   Supervises and coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration
•   Oversees commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

•  Experience:12+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience:6+ years
