About the Role:

Gen is looking for a seasoned, practical litigation attorney to join our dynamic and collaborative legal team.  You will have day-to-day management over a varied docket of litigation matters including consumer, contract, employment, securities, class action and patent disputes, as well as assist in regulatory investigations and provide pre-dispute counseling.  You will partner with our broader legal and business teams on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues to help practically and proactively balance and mitigate risk, including effectively and efficiently managing outside counsel. Ideal candidates will have experience or interest in employment law counseling.  Preference for candidates near our Mountain View, CA or Tempe, AZ offices.  This role reports to the Head of Litigation, IP, and Employment Law.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the skills and ability to effectively manage litigation and disputes, collaborate with our eDiscovery team on data preservation, respond to subpoenas, and provide employment legal advice to our People & Culture team.   You will collaboratively work teams across the company, and the globe, to understand and practically manage risk and strategically manage a wide range of types of litigation.

  • Licensed attorney in good standing, with at least five+ years of litigation and/or employment counseling experience at a law firm or technology company.
  • A strategic and practical approach to litigation and the ability to efficiently manage outside counsel and spending.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations or a willingness to learn.
  • Intellectually curious with a deep desire to learn and grow personally and professionally in an environment that encourages attorneys to broaden their skill set and rise to new challenges.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion, with a willingness to identify and address issues with relevant stakeholders.
  • A team player with a sense of humor!
  • Excellent analytical skills with a focus on practical and business-oriented client advice.
  • Experience managing eDiscovery issues and the ability to work with our in-house eDiscovery team and outside vendors.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Work collaboratively with a global team.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Prior in-house, international, and/or intellectual property law experiences are a plus.
