Under the supervision of the Director of Network and Telecommunication Engineering, the Senior Network Architect is responsible for performing activities related to the design, administration, installation, configuration, maintenance, and utilization of ACC’s network. The role of Senior Network Engineer is a critical role within the IT department and supports both the operational and strategic objectives of the IT department and the college as a whole.Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
Support all aspects of the district’s telecom network as needed, including VoIP, SIP, and POTS.
Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and security related activities involving network and telecommunication equipment.
Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide support as needed.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure secure network design and implementation.
Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
Collaborate with network architects on design, configuration, and documentation of the network.
Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Work with vendors and service providers to resolve issues and manage service delivery.
Define the scope of project-related milestones in collaboration with project managers and other stakeholders.
Perform project-related tasks as a part of strategic project teams as needed.
Ability to successfully register and certify with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS).
Knowledge
Computer network domains, technologies, and protocols.
Networked systems access and security guidelines and procedures.
Network performance tuning techniques.
Current trends and information sources for managing network systems.
Project planning and management principles.
System backup and recovery procedures and techniques.
Strong understanding of OSI model, subnetting, NAT, VLANs, and IP routing.
