About the Team: The Manufacturing Engineering team at ZF Mesa supports a diverse manufacturing portfolio. The SR Manufacturing Engineer candidate for this role will specifically manage a team of Controls Engineers who support multiple technologies across the plant – within machining, assembly, and other new projects. The controls team is collaborative and hands-on with the manufacturing processes, working closely with other departments including Maintenance, Production, as well as other team members within Engineering. A key to success for this role, besides being an effective communicator, is being flexible to regular shifting priorities yet ensuring that the team is moving together in the same direction towards targets.

 

What you can look forward to as a SR Manufacturing Engineer: 

 

  • Leads a technical team within the business team, typically made up of two technologies. 
  • Provides manufacturing engineering support and process improvements. 
  • Creates and maintains documents and/or databases using independent judgment.  Such activities vary from clerical to editorial to creation/revision of APQP documentation, MI, PI, SOP, etc. 
  • Develops, maintains and revises assigned tasks including line change decisions, process design and project management. 
  • Able to serve as the lead for large scale capital projects. 
  • Leads scrap, effectiveness, and cycle time improvement teams. 
  • Responsible for performance, training, and development of engineers and technicians within the business team. Has direct 6+ reports. 

 

Your Profile as a SR Manufacturing Engineer: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering  (Master’s preferred)
  • 8-10+ years of related experience and leading technical projects
  • Preferred experience in the following:
    • High volume automotive assembly operations
    • Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Pressing
    • Tool design and Maintenance
    • Crimping/roll forming/Punching
    • Welding (resistance, laser, friction, GMAW)
    • Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems, PLC and hand tools
  • Expert-level knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Engineering, including the following;
    • Experience with customer communication systems;
    • Extensive experience with engineering change systems;
    • In-depth knowledge of company products and services acquired through experience and training;
    • In-depth understanding of engineering techniques, principles, procedures of their particular field to the completion of difficult assignments;
