Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Research Contracts and Budgets is a pivotal role within our clinical research team, responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of oncology research projects. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that research contracts and budgets are executed efficiently, in compliance with regulatory standards, and align with the strategic goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee a team of research contract and budget managers/ specialists handling individual budget negotiations and contract management.

• Act as an escalation point for complex budgetary and contractual issues, providing resolution and decision-making support.

• Participate in individual negotiations as necessary, especially for high-priority or complex agreements.

• Develop and oversee oncology research budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting, monitoring, and reporting of expenditures.

• Work with project teams to ensure financial resources are allocated effectively.

• Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior leadership, identifying any variances and proposing corrective actions.

• Negotiate, draft, and manage contracts with vendors, research institutions, and other partners involved in oncology research.

• Ensure all contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any contractual disputes or issues.

• Act as a liaison between the finance, legal, and research teams to align on budgetary and contractual matters.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, ensuring smooth contractual negotiations and partnerships.

• Identify opportunities to enhance budgeting and contracting processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

• Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline financial and contractual workflows.

• Ensure all financial and contractual activities adhere to relevant regulations, including FDA, NIH, and other governing bodies.

• Stay updated on changes in regulations affecting oncology research funding and contracts and educate team on any changes.

• Other duties as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer. 

Qualifications/Key Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

• 7+ years of experience in budget and contract management, preferably in clinical research or the pharmaceutical industry.

• Strong understanding of oncology research and clinical trial processes.

• Proven negotiation skills with experience in contract management.

• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in financial management software and tools.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in managing financial data and contracts.
