The Sr. Manager, Project Accounting will serve as a vital member of our department level team, supporting the commercial and financial aspects of utility-scale solar and BESS projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within project teams. The Sr. Manager, Project Accounting will be a key stakeholder in developing, implementing, and updating construction project accounting processes, collaborating with project accountants and commercial managers to ensuring the integrity of project accounting practices, provide training on department processes, conduct audits on active deliverables from project accountants. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Commercial Management, or another management personnel that the team lead may designate. This position a hybrid assignment located at one of HQC US offices, and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 10%. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and develop the Project Accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for projects, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Manage department level cash flow by monitoring invoicing, and payments, working closely with project teams, and external partners as needed.
  • Drive the strategic financial planning of all self-perform construction projects, including cost analysis, profitability assessments, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align project accounting practices with overall company financial strategies.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial data and reports, leveraging advanced software and systems.
  • Act as a key financial advisor for project and commercial managers, providing insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Accountants and Commercial Managers to support commercial and financial administrative aspects of assigned projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, including variance analysis, forecasts, and financial statements.
  • Support the Sr. Manager, Commercial Management in assessing project risks and opportunities related to project finances.
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve financial issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of project close-out activities, including final financial reconciliations and reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data in tracking and forecast tools across all self-perform construction projects, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by supervisor or team lead.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a project-based environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within project teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide.
