About the role

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Manager of FP&A will lead a team of 4 financial analysts to analyze, review, consult and present financial results to departmental leaders across FirstKey Homes to assist with implementing operational plans. This role will partner with and help Operational leaders increase effectiveness by assisting them in achieving their financial objectives against the company’s financial targets.  This role will be responsible for training / developing four Senior Financial Analysts and have direct responsibility for four distinct areas of the FKH P&L:

  1. Portfolio: status of homes (occupied / vacant / down), move-outs / move-ins, and occupancy rate
  2. Revenue: rental income, concessions, reserve, and multiple ancillary revenue accounts
  3. Cost to Maintain: R&M and turn expense with associated KPIs, capex and casualty loss
  4. Cost to Own: Property Tax, Insurance, and HOA with associated KPIs

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Train, develop and manage direct report(s) to achieve departmental and FirstKey Homes goals. Coach and mentor direct reports to enhance their capabilities.
  • Lead the operational and financial planning process for short-term and long-term financial targets.
  • Meet with business partners across FirstKey Homes to understand departmental revenues and expenses. Establish key performance indicators and credibility as a trusted advisor.
  • Oversee profit and loss statements. Review and report results monthly to Business Ownership.
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and lead the creation of forecasting models. Create influential reports used to drive decision making that aligns to organizational goals.
  • Facilitate the preparation of financial data for quarterly board meetings leveraging PowerPoint. Present financial results to c-suite executives and board of directors.
  • Scan and monitor departmental financials to identify opportunities and strengths for business partner decision making. Evaluate and recommend changes that would enhance financial performance.
  • Focus on optimizing company financial reporting, training market teams to understand financial results, and leading a successful operationalization of the current year operating plan.
  • Track and review industry best practices and issues. Evaluate and communicate their potential impact to the business. Recommend and implement practices that will enhance operational effectiveness.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily working indoors, office environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Statistics or equivalent work experience and/or education
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in a financial or business analyst role
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing large-scale financial operations with responsibility for multi-billion-dollar portfolios, including revenue optimization, cost management, and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with financial planning tools and advanced Excel; Power BI experience preferred
  • Proficiency in querying and analyzing data using SQL
  • Proven ability to partner and influence business partners across an organization
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial data to c-suite executives
  • Experience supervising and managing others 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MBA (Master of Business Administration) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • Experience using OneStream
  • Experience working in real estate, property management or similar industry
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high-growth company
