About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Peloton is looking for an experienced and motivated Sr. Manager Financial Reporting, Special Projects, to join our Accounting and Finance team! This person will be a key member of the Accounting Organization and a critical point of contact for Accounting, FP&A, Tax and Internal Audit teams. The person will partner with cross-functional teams across Peloton to ensure the smooth execution of ongoing accounting and finance transformation projects. The role is based out of our NY Headquarter and the individual will report to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting and Analysis. 

In this leadership role, the person will be responsible for driving multiple priorities and initiatives that improve our accounting and financial reporting processes and accelerate the overall month end close timeline. This role requires the individual to lead the design, implementation and modernization of our accounting and financial reporting ecosystems through engagement with key internal and external partners. Such responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to, the implementation and maintenance of our chart of accounts and financial master data in line with our business goals and financial reporting objectives; implementation of an enterprise performance management system (EPM), optimization of our record-to-report process through identification of improvement opportunities such as automating month-end tasks, and supporting the improvement of close-related KPIs/benchmarks.

The Sr. Manager Financial Reporting, Special Projects will possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work across the organization. The candidate will be a well-rounded leader who can navigate successfully in a dynamic, fast-paced organization, and across a range of verticals under the Finance organization. The individual will be an upbeat, solution-focused and insightful leader who can implement best practices and can transition easily between strategic and tactical roles.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON 

  • Play a lead project role as the accounting process owner on the implementation of Oracle Cloud EPM (financial close and consolidation, management reporting, master data management, account reconciliations); define business requirements and help architect future state solutions that modernize financial reporting capabilities through automation and use of technology
  • Drive the design and optimization  of Peloton’s chart of accounts (CoA) and finance master data in line with evolving business needs and best practices; support ongoing maintenance of CoA
  • Act as a subject matter expert (“SME”) with respect to our internal and external financial reporting, with a strong command of underlying data structures and the end-to-end data flow from upstream systems (general ledger, etc.); operate as a “super user” of new EPM solution and facilitate training and knowledge sharing across the accounting organization. 
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver key milestones and activities; facilitate meetings; prepare clear, sufficiently-detailed minutes; actively communicate program details, risks, and mitigations to stakeholders (comfortable operating in a project management capacity as required to drive workstreams forward) 
  • Collaborate with and champion agreement from accounting leaders, peers and cross-functional partners to ensure solutions meet stakeholder requirements, implications and trade offs are well understood, and decisions are made in an efficient manner.  
  • Lead optimization of record-to-report process through identification and implementation of close-optimization and process simplification opportunities across accounting and reporting processes; demonstrate ability to lead end-to-end improvement initiatives from ideation through deployment
  • Act as a key team leader, cultivate a growth and innovation mentality, and work to build a strong team in a constantly evolving environment
  • Drive continuous process improvement projects and other value add initiatives
  • Improve upon or create new process documentation (SOPs, process maps, process flows) for “to be” financial reporting, close management, and consolidations processes. 
  • Ad hoc finance special projects as needed 

YOU BRING TO PELOTON 

  • 8+ years of accounting or reporting at a public company and/or external audit of public companies 
  • An excellent understanding and application of US GAAP, particularly consolidation, intercompany accounting, foreign currency transactions and tax accounting 
  • Must have a proven track record of effective communication at all levels across the entire organization, with a high level of self-awareness when it comes to the effectiveness of their own communication and an ability to lead through influence
