The Opportunity
Abbott Laboratories is hiring a Global Procurement Senior Manager – Plastics to lead global sourcing and procurement of plastic components across our product portfolio. Based in Chicago, IL or Columbus, OH, this strategic role will drive category strategies that ensure supply continuity, cost efficiency, innovation, and alignment with sustainability and diversity goals. What You’ll Work On
Lead global procurement for plastic components including injection-molded, blow-molded, and extruded parts.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies that ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and supply continuity.
Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies to inform procurement decisions.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through competitive sourcing and value engineering.
Analyze total cost of ownership and optimize spend across the plastics category.
Build and manage strategic supplier relationships to drive innovation and service excellence.
Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews; lead corrective actions as needed.
Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical and regulatory risks.
Partner with R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to support product development and improvement.
Support sustainability goals by reducing environmental impact in the plastics supply chain.
Promote supplier diversity and track performance metrics.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
6–10+ years of global procurement experience, with a strong focus on plastic components.
Strong knowledge of procurement practices and supply chain management.
Proven success in developing procurement strategies and achieving cost savings.
Experience managing corporate programs and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Excellent negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Willingness to travel up to 20%.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Deep understanding of plastic manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, blow molding, extrusion).
Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results.
Strong leadership and stakeholder influence skills.
Financial acumen and experience managing procurement budgets.

The base pay for this position is
$127,300.00 – $254,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
