This role requires deep expertise in Esri software development technologies, modern software engineering practices, and spatial data management.

The successful candidate will serve as both a software developer and a geospatial technology subject matter expert, responsible for developing new features, maintaining existing functionality, evaluating emerging Esri technologies, and ensuring the product remains aligned with advancements across the Esri platform. This individual will actively monitor Esri product releases, software updates, and industry trends to assess the impact of new Esri capabilities or architecture changes on the software product and/or identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

As a Senior GIS Software Developer, you will:

  • Complexity (Variety or uniqueness of tasks; relative difficulty or importance of work performed; size of unit supported, etc.): Work involves research, analysis, architecture, development, and problem solving on a variety of highly complex GIS software development issues. The role supports a critical product area where technical decisions may affect customer implementations, support efficiency, release quality, and future platform direction.
  • Decision-making (Supervision received; independent judgment or initiative; consequence of error): Works under the guidance of solution architect and product manager with assignments provided in terms of broad objectives, product priorities, customer needs, and delivery expectations. Acts independently on technical matters pertaining to GIS development, implementation approaches, defect resolution, support escalation, and release readiness within areas of expertise. Errors in judgment may result in delayed releases, customer support impacts, implementation rework, product instability, or increased operational dependency on senior technical resources.
  • Work direction given to others (Titles and number of personnel; type of direction given): May coordinate work of other developers or support staff for GIS development assignments, releases, architecture initiatives, and customer escalations.
  • Internal contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others within the organization): Interfaces with technical managers, product leaders, software developers, QA teams, implementation teams, technical support, business development resources, proposal teams, and administrative staff as necessary. Collaborates with leadership and product stakeholders on process improvement, platform roadmap considerations, and customer-impacting technical decisions.

Provides technical clarification for proposals, RFIs, demonstrations, and customer engagement activities related to mobile platform functionality, constraints, configuration, and future capability planning.
