Job Summary:
The Senior Software Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering innovative software that advances Masimo’s mission to improve patient outcomes and reduce the cost of care.
Operating at the intersection of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Technical Product Management, this role translates product strategy and customer needs into system requirements and user stories that drive design and implementation.
Partnering with business, clinical, and engineering leaders, the engineer drives alignment and system integration across disciplines to deliver scalable, compliant, and effective solutions that meet clinical, regulatory, and business goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business, clinical, and engineering teams throughout design, development, and verification to ensure technical, clinical, and regulatory objectives remain aligned.
- Engage with customers to understand workflows, identify challenges, and convert user needs into actionable requirements or solution concepts that guide design discussions and leverage existing or new product capabilities.
- Manage and refine system and software requirements to maintain clear traceability across design, implementation, verification, and risk-management activities.
- Participate in architecture, design, and integration reviews to ensure proposed solutions meet functional, usability, performance, and regulatory expectations.
- Prioritize and manage the product development backlog, maintaining alignment between customer needs, business strategy, and technical feasibility.
- Promote and implement best practices in system design, integration, testing, and deployment across Masimo’s technology ecosystem.
- Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of requirements-management and systems-engineering processes, supporting consistency across teams and products.
- Lead or support process-improvement initiatives that enhance development efficiency, product quality, and cross-functional collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing, or product-oriented engineering role (e.g., Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Product Management).
- Proven ability to gather, define, and document business, system, and software requirements using requirements engineering practices.
- Experience authoring, reviewing, and managing requirements within a formal requirements-management system (e.g., Jama Connect, or equivalent), with an understanding of version control and traceability practices.
- Solid understanding of modern software-system architectures, including how components interact across embedded systems, mobile applications, APIs, and cloud or on-premise services.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and modern software development best practices.
- Proven ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Awareness of software-quality and regulatory standards applicable to medical devices (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 14971).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software, systems engineering, or technical product management roles, including exposure to regulated or safety-critical environments.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects or guiding architectural direction from concept through validation and release.
- Ability to critically evaluate software system designs, identifying architectural trade-offs, integration risks, security implications, and performance considerations.
- Experience applying systems thinking and requirements traceability to ensure design, implementation, and verification remain aligned with user and regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading software development or integration projects in a regulated or medical device environment (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
- Experience building and improving requirements-management frameworks and effectively using enterprise tools to support traceability and change control.
