Job OverviewThe System Reliability Engineer (SRE) guides and mentors other SREs and improves and protects the software and systems behind all of T-Mobile's IT services, including management of scalability, availability, latency, performance, security, and capacity, and delivering of software faster, better, and cheaper. From designing & maintaining CICD Pipelines to building the next generation of T-Mobile applications on cloud native platforms, the SRE's enable great customer experience and product innovation by continuous improvement of operational support.
Job Responsibilities:
- Utilizes fluent knowledge and skill in emerging DevOps-centric automation tools and technologies for CI/CD, configuration management, etc. for non-prod environments.
- Performs environment management, automated server provisioning, pipeline configuration (VMs).
- Delivers software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of T-Mobile’s services.
- Creates, manages, and uses dashboard for continuous monitoring and health check of applications, and the underlying infrastructure, improves the quality of services using the monitoring feedback for non-production environment.
- Contributes to future improvements of software delivery processes and operations, e.g., cloud enablement, and use of microservices with containerization.
- Relationship and People Management: Mentors/guides other Systems Reliability Engineers and vendor resources as needed.
- Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.
Qualifications:
- Infrastructure: Extensive experience in the buildout, scaling, tuning, and support of TKE/Kubernetes, including the migration of Enterprise applications to Kubernetes and HAProxy. Experience in designing AWS WAF solution for CloudFront
- CI/CD: Extensive experience in designing, building and supporting the CI/CD pipelines for Enterprise applications including guardrails to check version compatibility, etc.
- Monitoring/Telemetry: Experience in onboarding enterprise applications to AppDynamics & OTEL. Expertise in RED metrics monitoring including tooling enhancements and maintenance
- Automation: Experience building solutions to remove manual tasks, developing tools to enhance Security, Scalability & Performance maturity as well as developer efficiency. Examples would be scripts to automate the infra and deployment Enterprise level applications, or version control for AWS Lambda scripts
- Stability: Experience leading disaster recovery automation & chaos testing.
- Software development: Experience building enterprise software at scale. Relevant technologies would be Java/SpringBoot cloud based microservices, JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, Node.js, etc.), and other scripting languages such as Python, Shell, PHP.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, relevant experience in lieu of degree might be considered.
Experience:
- 4-7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in an Agile and DevOps environment.
- Experience in one or more of: C, C#, Java, Perl, Python, Go, or scripting experience in Shell and Perl.
- Experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools, such as, Jenkins, Cloudbees, etc., and other automation tools.
- Experience with DevOps tools, such as, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc. Experience in Docker, Kubernetes, etc. is preferable.
- Experience in APM tools, like AppDynamics, logging tools, like Splunk.
- Experience working in a cloud environment (public/private).
- Experience in migrating to cloud or cloud native environments is preferable.
