Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to lead the development of circuit designs and firmware for a diverse range of sensing technologies within the Seametrics family of flow and water quality instrumentation systems. In this role, you will design hardware using STM32 and PIC microcontrollers to enable precise measurement of flow, pressure, conductivity, pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen. You will also be responsible for creating communication protocol stacks on OEM development platforms, including Modbus and HART. As a senior team member, you will take ownership of project management for electrical hardware design and firmware development, driving innovation in custom, leading-edge precision instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of embedded hardware and firmware for advanced sensing technologies used in flow and water quality instrumentation.
  • Drive full product lifecycle efforts from concept, requirements definition, and design through validation, documentation, and release.
  • Oversee and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and ensuring design consistency across projects.
  • Define and implement system-level architecture that integrates microcontrollers, analog and digital circuits, and communication protocols to achieve precise and reliable measurements.
  • Develop and maintain firmware in C for STM32 and PIC microcontrollers, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Design and enhance hardware platforms, supporting current-generation products while planning next-generation systems that leverage emerging technologies.
  • Conduct and lead design and code reviews, functional test planning, and verification activities to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, manufacturing, and product management teams to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability of embedded designs.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps by evaluating new sensors, microcontrollers, and communication standards such as Modbus, HART, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
  • Champion continuous improvement in embedded design processes, documentation, and project management practices.
  • Work independently or lead small teams on embedded projects, balancing hands-on development with strategic technical direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Embedded Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in embedded systems engineering, with a proven track record in full-cycle product development, from requirements gathering to release.
  • Strong programming skills in C; additional experience with assembly language is a plus.
  • Expertise in STM32 and PIC32 microcontrollers.
  • Hands-on development with SPI, I2C, and UART communication protocols.
  • Expertise in low-power design strategies for battery-powered products and in designing low-power, high-precision, low-noise analog signal chains.
  • Proficiency in schematic design and circuit development.
  • Familiarity with embedded toolchains (e.g., Attolic TrueStudio, MPLAB) and version control systems (Subversion, Git).
  • Solid understanding of firmware engineering m
