Responsible for managing all operations related to manufacturing, materials, facilities, distribution, engineering and maintenance to ensure smooth, continuous, cost effective and controlled manufacture of products in support of the business' forecasts and inventory goals. This senior level role has a direct contribution to the development of business and/or functional strategies and typically, responsibility for managing multiple teams of professionals.
Directs Directors, Senior Managers, and occasionally senior individual contributors in a matrix environment, and is accountable for meaningful career development conversations and regular coaching and feedback. Designs (or participates in the design) of internal methods for Plant Management and directs processes and procedures that support business goals. Approves initiatives and oversees consistent execution of timelines, approvals, and plans. Develops strategic initiatives based on best practices and serves as an executive point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
- Responsible for formulating and implementing operations-wide strategies and operational plans.
- Leads, develops and motivates the senior leadership team to achieve and improve upon business results.
- Identifies growth opportunities and optimization of operating performance.
- Oversight for all operational processes and partners closely with supporting functions including Quality Operations, Compliance, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, Finance, Planning, as well as Health, Safety and Environmental to ensure execution and compliance.
- Participates in formulating and executing operations-wide strategies and objectives. Takes the lead in the further development of plant manufacturing strategies and objectives.
- Drives strategic projects to optimize the global and local supply chain, product and process quality and reduce costs, moving the organization to a world-class benchmark as a strategic site in the global Ethicon environment.
- Develops, monitors and effectively utilizes dashboards, control charts and operational indicators, taking actions to correct situations which are not in line with established controls or targets.
- Effectively manages resources (human, material, and capital) to meet quality, customer service, financial, EHS&S, and product and process improvement targets.
- Works diligently to reduce all forms of critical defects and as part of a wider integrated product recall prevention plan strives to eliminate "field-issues" on a permanent basis.
- Develops and sustains a culture of waste reduction and, in conjunction with the above and first pass rolled throughput yield remediation, effect an ongoing and sustained improvement in product and process quality.
- Ensures close collaboration with Quality Operations that the Quality System is regularly audited/reviewed and that appropriate preventive and corrective actions are identified and executed to improve quality results.
- Ensures fulfillment of all safety, industrial hygiene, environmental and labor regulatory requirements.
- Leads area processes for the organization's Plant Management function, formulates policies and objectives based on industry best practices, and ensures methods align with the overall business strategy.
- Works effectively with the Engineering function to simplify processes and improve process capability, reliability and consistency to develop global production processes and equipment designs and to reduce costs.
- Develops and successfully monitors the plant to meet or exceed the agreed business plan.
