Our goal is to repair the stale banking industry and build products that help improve the financial well-being of our customers. ABOUT THE CLOUD DATABASE ENGINEER ROLEVaro is seeking a talented and energetic Staff Cloud Database Engineer to join our team. We are responsible for managing the cloud infrastructure and databases that power our web and mobile applications. We work closely with developers and other stakeholders to ensure that our databases are highly available, scalable, and secure. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies and help us build a world-class infrastructure.

ABOUT THE CLOUD DATABASE ENGINEER ROLEVaro is seeking a talented and energetic Staff Cloud Database Engineer to join our team. We are responsible for managing the cloud infrastructure and databases that power our web and mobile applications. We work closely with developers and other stakeholders to ensure that our databases are highly available, scalable, and secure. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies and help us build a world-class infrastructure.
What you'll be doing
- Manage and maintain our AWS cloud infrastructure, including RDS PostgreSQL databases.
- Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions in AWS.
- Work closely with developers and other stakeholders to optimize database performance and ensure data integrity.
- Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for our databases.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Automate database administration tasks using scripting and/or configuration management tools.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud and database technologies and provide recommendations for improving our infrastructure.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for critical database issues
You'll bring the following required skills and experiences
- 4+ years of experience as a cloud DBA, with a focus on AWS and RDS PostgreSQL in a cloud native environment
- 2+ years experience in Python programming.
- 2+ years of experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, CDK or Pulumi)
- 2+ years of experience on AWS - particularly EC2, S3, IAM, VPC and DMS
