The Sr Business Systems Analyst (Sr BSA) is a senior team member in Claims IT, who will work closely with Claims stakeholders to understand how current and future processes work both within the Claims Division and throughout the enterprise. The Sr BSA effectively and professionally collaborates with stakeholders and team members to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate business needs and technology requirements. They are outcome focused and advise stakeholders on technology solutions that are practical and maintainable. They ensure data and reporting needs are accounted for in their requirements. The Sr BSA is not a developer, but they understand how to create requirements for software development in an Agile environment, how to work effectively with and support the development team, and how to test software to ensure development efforts meet business needs.

What you will do... 

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert in support of Specialty Insurance Claims services.  

  • Act as a senior team member to ensure business needs are met by technical specifications and development efforts, working closely with Product Owners and business and technical stakeholders. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to investigate and elicit business requirements, specifications, and feasibility of solutions to meet the needs of strategic initiatives. 

  • Identify project / business risks and issues and propose mitigating actions. 

  • Provides reports to update management and stakeholders on product development operations for Claims services 

  • Define the technical requirements of solution development, system integration, data, and reporting needs (both functional and non-functional). 

  • Support an Agile/SAFe development environment, building Epic and Story based requirements and specifications, working with Scrum Masters and Release Train Engineers. 

  • Drive investigative work and creation of technical solutions, working side by side with Solution Architects and Software Engineers. 

  • Develop test scenarios and test cases for use in system and integration testing, including the creation of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) tests. 

  • Ensure test results are documented, reported to stakeholders, along with any risks or issues, and are available for specification of user instructions. 

  • Develop and lead training on Claims solutions and tools. 

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of documentation including requirements, standards, and user materials. 

  • Occasionally work late evening and weekends as needed to support technology delivery. 

About you... 

  • You have excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills, and can work effectively with diverse stakeholders, both business and technical.

  • You have strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, and can apply them to various business and technical scenarios.

  • You have a solid understanding of Agile project management methodologies, tools, and best practices and a strong proficiency in Epic and Story development.

  • You have a strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies including BDD.

  • You have a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and accountability, and can work independently or as part of a team. 

  • You can work on multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining a vision of priority and order of success. 

Some things you have experience with... 

  • 6+ years of experience as a business systems analyst, preferably in a large and complex organization. 

  • 3+ years of experience working in the insurance or financial services industry. 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems, or a related field. 

  • Experience with business process modeling and improvement techniques. 

  • Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments. 

  • Experience testing software and creating test cases including BDD. 

  • Experience with business intelligence, data, and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and SQL. 

  • Experience defining requirements for enterprise insurance applications and systems integration. 

Other desirable/advantageous skills and experience... 

  • Experience with Guidewire ClaimCenter strongly preferred. 

  • Knowledge of risk management, governance, and data policie
