Position Number: 110140 Position Title (Classification Title):  Associate Director 110140 Working Title:  Sr. Associate Director, Housing Facilities Job Summary: The Sr. Associate Director is responsible for management of Housing facilities staff and maintenance of all facilities in the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Facilities include 7 residence halls, housing a combined total of 1500 students. Responsible for strategic facilities and budget planning, reporting, safety, preventative maintenance, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including students, staff, the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the AVP for Student Affairs, and the AVP for Facilities.
This position oversees a staff of 7-10 employees, including groundskeepers, HVAC specialist, handyman, electrician specialist, maintenance supervisor and superintendent. Manages short- and long-term projects including new construction, renovation, utilities upgrades, routine/preventative and long-term maintenance, and emergency repairs.

Department Housing Residence Life FLSA: Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience. Position Qualifications: The Sr. Associate Director will possess extensive facilities management experience, including knowledge of construction principles, project management, maintenance standards, building codes, safety systems, and other important aspects of building management.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization, facilities and/or construction management, or a closely related field, and a minimum of four years of full-time experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of full-time experience. Specific knowledge of construction and maintenance systems principles, practices, procedures, codes as it applies to university residence buildings and facilities. Ability to identify potential problems and develop corrective procedures and timely solutions to housing facilities issues. General knowledge of local, state and federal construction laws, codes and requirements. Familiar with building systems, including roofing, HVAC, elevators, and plumbing. Ability to lead, motivate, direct, and communicate with all levels of staff/community members. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience working with college student populations in living/learning residential communities:
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
Previous work experience in educational or government environment, preferably a higher education setting
Holds current APPA certification as a Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) or other related certification.
Strong administrative and problem-solving skills

Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 45% - The Sr. Associate Director of Housing Facilities provides leadership and supervision in the following areas: Housing Facilities staff, building projects, maintenance of all housing facilities, and ResNet. Responsibilities include: supervision and evaluation of professional staff, administrative duties, provides and participates in professional staff development, supervises the day-to-day operations and facilities future growth and planning for: ResNet, Planned, routine, preventative and emergency maintenance, repair and replacement timelines, construction and renovation projects, key management, security cameras, fire and weather related drills, and building compliance. This position serves as the direct report and communication liaison for collaborative projects on residence hall properties, including site-supervision of the Facilities/Maintenance/Plant Operations staff.
