Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of the position is to oversee and manage financial operations by ensuring accurate cost tracking, budgeting, and financial reporting. The role involves monitoring project budgets, analyzing job costs, managing accounts payable/receivable, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, such as prevailing wage laws or lien requirements. The accountant supports decision-making by providing insights into project profitability, cash flow management, and financial planning, while maintaining strict adherence to construction-specific accounting standards, such as percentage-of-completion or completed-contract accounting methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, while maintaining compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to foster a high-performing team.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations, and manage internal and external audits.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Establish and enforce internal controls to maintain financial integrity and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with leadership to align accounting practices with organizational goals and recommend cost-saving strategies.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting systems and processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Serve as a liaison with executive leadership, external auditors, and consultants to ensure effective communication and compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years accounting experience required
- Bachelor's in accounting required
- CPA track preferred
- Experience with US-GAAP & IFRS Accounting Standards.
- Construction Industry Experience

- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle).

- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication for presenting financial information to stakeholders.
