About the role

Position Overview

The SQL Database Administrator / Analyst is responsible for the performance, security, and availability of enterprise database systems while serving as a strong analytical partner to the business. This role requires deep analytical skills and hands-on expertise writing SQL, PowerShell, and batch scripts to automate, optimize, and troubleshoot database processes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • Proven experience in a SQL Database Administrator or Database Analyst role supporting enterprise systems

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze database performance, capacity, and usage trends to proactively identify issues and improvement opportunities
  • Write, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, scripts, and batch processes
  • Develop automation using SQL, PowerShell, and batch scripting to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Install, configure, and administer MS SQL Server databases
  • Monitor system health, analyze reports, and troubleshoot complex database issues
  • Perform performance tuning and query optimization based on analytical findings
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, security, and auditing processes
  • Manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks
  • Support installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and business teams to analyze requirements and data behavior

 

Core Skills & Analytical Strengths

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and system trends
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration (SQL Server 2005–2022)
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell scripting, and batch scripting
  • Strong experience with query optimization, performance tuning, and root cause analysis
  • Ability to document, standardize, and improve complex SQL and automation processes
  • Experience managing and maintaining SQL Cubes
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Azure cloud experience preferred
