About the role

Nemours is seeking a Speech Pathologist (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Jacksonville, Florida.

Administers diagnostic evaluations of speech and language competencies of individuals (ages 0-21), including assessment of speech, language, auditory, voice/VPI skills and swallowing/feeding skills as they relate to educational, medical, social and physiological factors within the pediatric population in support of the physician specialties within the Nemours Health.

Habilitative and rehabilitative treatment functions which include responsibility for planning, directing, and/or conducting treatment programs to restore or improve communicative and swallowing efficiency of individuals with communication and swallowing problems of organic or nonorganic etiology. 

  • Provide counseling and guidance to individuals (and family members) identified with communication and swallowing difficulties needing skilled intervention.
  • Report type of treatment, significant progress and/or regression, and specific recommendations to patient's physician. Maintain appropriate medical records.
  • Select and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic materials, equipment and environment.
  • Willingness to engage in advanced testing and treatment for conditions such as vocal cord nodules, voice/VPI, oral motor feeding and swallowing deficits (Including FEES & MBSS & CLC), cochlear implants and hearing loss (LSLS), cleft palate, VPI, and craniofacial disorders, and neurogenic disorders.
  • Act as liaison and/or consultant between institutional affiliates for speech related functions.
  • Engage in scientific study of human communication. Will participate in research related to investigation of biophysical phenomena associated with voice, speech and language, and swallowing. In addition, development of diagnostic and remedial techniques or procedures, or design of apparatus.

Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech Pathology required.
  • Minimum of  3-5 years’ experience in Speech Pathology required.  Emphasis in pediatric feeding and swallowing preferred.
  • State of Florida Speech Language Pathologist License required.
  • Holder of Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology required.
