This role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.

Special Mentions:

This position is part of Blue Origin's TeraWave business unit, a newly announced satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. TeraWave consists of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The development, management, and maintenance of system and subsystem requirements for the TeraWave satellite communications network
  • Establish and implement verification and validation methodologies to ensure TeraWave's 6 Tbps communications capabilities meet all performance requirements
  • Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices to ensure complete coverage of system specifications
  • Create and execute verification and validation plans for satellite communications systems, including test procedures and acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate cross-functional verification activities with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams
  • Perform requirements analysis to ensure proper flow-down from system to subsystem levels
  • Manage interface definitions and requirements between TeraWave's LEO and MEO satellite constellations
  • Support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and milestone reviews with clear verification evidence
  • Develop verification closure documentation and validation notices for internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks related to requirements implementation and verification
  • Collaborate with specialty engineering disciplines to ensure comprehensive verification of all system aspects
  • Establish and maintain verification environments and tools for efficient testing and validation
  • Support integration and test activities to verify system performance against requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering with focus on requirements development, verification, and validation
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama)
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis, interface definition, and verification planning
  • Experience with satellite communications systems or related aerospace/defense systems
  • Demonstrated ability to develop verification and validation plans and procedures
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and communication

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with satellite communications networks, RF systems, or optical communications
  • Knowledge of space-based communications architectures and protocols
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering tools and methodologies
  • Familiarity with optical inter-satellite links and related technologies
  • Experience with high-throughput satellite systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for satellite communications systems
  • Experience with agile development methodologies in a systems engineering context
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing for space systems


 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $99,201.00 - $138,880.35 CO applicants is $90,934.00 - $127,307.25 WA applicants is $99,201.00 - $138,880.35
