About the role

Job Description Summary

This position is for the Turbine Airfoils Sourced Casting Quality Leader within the Product Safety & Quality organization, reporting directly to the Turbine Airfoils Casting Quality Leader. The role is responsible for ensuring the quality of manufacturing processes, product, and technologies employed by external casting vendors. As a frontline leader, this position owns and influences quality action planning, budgets, operating strategies, and industry initiatives across the GE Aerospace sourced portfolio of turbine airfoil castings.

Guided by established operating policies, this role requires collaboration with and leadership of cross-functional teams, including Casting Technologies, Design Engineering, Quality, and Operations. This position has the high potential to significantly impact the Turbine Airfoils Part Family and greater Product line P&Ls. Achieving success in this role demands high levels of evaluative judgment and operational expertise.

Key responsibilities include leadership of SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) for external casting suppliers and processes, as well as driving advancements in Advanced Quality, Supplier Development, Quality Improvements, and Technology Breakthroughs."

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Influences/Defines and leads the implementation of the quality organization, process and tools to support a strategy for the Aerospace Airfoil Casting Industry. It implements a culture of Quality in the organization and defines and leads improvement initiatives to achieve business excellence.
  • Manages a small to medium team of lead and senior professionals. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise within Quality and/or Investment Castings.
  • Requires strong commercial awareness of the industry, and is expected to influence the development of strategy within own area, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Will lead functional teams driving projects wit moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on business critical initiatives and product offerings.
  • Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. Work is subject to functional policy objectives. Regularly advises management in the function and/or in the business. Has a supportive role in decision making about important subjects. High levels of evaluative judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems that impact the business and industry.
  • Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • Ability to lead through influence with external suppliers to meet quality requirements, and business goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Casting Quality).
  • Additional 5 years experience in Quality, Castings, Manufacturing, or Engineering
  • US Person.  Refer to Internal Revenue Code section 7701(a)(31) for the definition
