WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK:

On-Site: This role is on-site five days a week at our Del Mar office due to the nature of the work involved.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

An individual responsible for contributing to the design and development of test automation tools & infrastructure. In this role, you will work with embedded, mobile, web, and end to end teams to ensure our systems are scalable, maintainable, and testable.

Software Test Tools Engineer I’s at Tandem are also responsible for:

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementing new features to enable better automated testing under supervision.
  • Creating tooling unit and integration tests.
  • Building CI pipelines for internal tool development and external customers.
  • Participating in the maintenance of test labs, including embedded, mobile, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Contributing to documentation, including specifications and interface descriptions.
  • Assisting in fixing tooling or infrastructure defects.
  • Using tools such as IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio Code, Git, JIRA, and Confluence to plan, coordinate, and manage work.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing, modifying, supporting, and testing automated test tools.
  • Maintaining and supporting test infrastructure.
  • Staying up to date with current development tools, techniques, and standards.
  • Testing and debugging software applications to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Diagnosing, replicating, and addressing tooling or infrastructure defects.
  • Collaborating with project managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to meet technical requirements and client needs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Ability to read and follow procedures and flow diagrams.
  • Able to effectively share information and ideas within and outside of department in written or verbal form; able to put forth own ideas and gain understanding from others.
  • Proficient at supporting effective interactions between team members and among cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to schedule and coordinate project priorities and resources and to produce high quality work.
  • Experience with Scrum and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficient knowledge of at least one embedded or cloud-based programming language, preferably JavaScript, Python, C or C# would be a plus. 
  • Familiar with common test frameworks and automation tools, preferably Selenium web driver, Jasmine, Mocha, Appium would be a plus.
  • Proficient with formal software test methodologies.
  • Able to assert own ideas and persuade others through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) preferred.

Minimum certifications/educational level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EE or CS is required or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.

Minimum experience:

  • Must have experience as a test engineer with tools in the system they support.
  • Proven experience in test case creation, Design Change Assessments, and participation in software review boards.
  • Strong attention to detail, with experience in proofreading, following detailed work instructions, and applying critical thinking to projects.
