Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Quality Engineer to join the Software Quality team located in Colorado Springs, CO . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Our team of highly-motivated, customer-focused engineers’ partners with Boeing Defense, Space, and Security programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the right processes are used for developing, controlling, and verifying software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes combined with a passion for advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with Agile and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9100 / AS9115) is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, and able to quickly learn the responsibilities of the position. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and maintains program level software quality engineering processes, resources, and infrastructure
  • Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery
  • Performs process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards
  • Supports program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting information
  • Verifies that software testing is done to meet software requirements
  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products
  • Identifies process or product non-compliances; supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities
  • Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance
  • Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement
  • Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final US Top Secret clearance with CI Polygraph Post Start.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 1+ years’ experience working as a Software Quality Engineering
  • 1+ years’ experience with Software Development lifecycle processes (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Software Quality Engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements
