As our next Senior Software Engineering Manager and as a member of Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE), you will lead a team of 12+ Software Engineers whose charter is to design, develop, test, and deploy mission critical software for the United States Navy and Air Force. You will work with leaders that are People Focused, have a One Team mentality and are Mission Driven. Our team takes pride in their contributions to the defense and security of the United States. This position is located in Richardson, TX 

  

What YOU Will Do:  

  • You will lead a software engineering team through the execution of planned development for mission-critical processing and communication systems.  

  • You will guide the creation and execution of software engineering plans, including execution baselines, program execution, staffing plans, and technical risk and opportunity assessments.  

  • You will manage project scope, schedule, and budget for software engineering activities using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance measurement.  

  • You will lead, review, and provide guidance on bid and proposal activities for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and pursuits.  

  • You will perform hiring decisions, performance assessments, and personnel management for a team of 12+ technical staff members.  

  • You will ensure strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring, and negotiating skills are used to lead the engineering team effectively.  

  • You will manage project risks and issues, elevating them to upper management when appropriate, while adhering to Collins Aerospace process methodologies.  

  • You will have an on-site presence in a classified lab space.

  • Leadership and Management: Develop and refine leadership and project management skills, including hiring, performance assessment, and personnel management, while managing project scope, schedule, and budget in a high-stakes environment.  

  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Enhance collaboration skills by working within integrated agile release train teams, coordinating with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery.  

  • Digital Engineering Practices: Learn and apply advanced digital engineering methodologies such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, digital twin simulation/integration/testing, and the automation of build delivery and test processes to enhance mission system designs.  

  • Advanced Systems Integration: Gain experience with integrating complex Systems of Systems, enhancing skills in working with multi-enclave network systems and cutting-edge communication technologies such as VLF, HF, V/UHF, and SATCOM.
