Software Engineering Manager, PL&R

At Meta, our Programming Languages & Runtimes (PL&R) team is responsible for the programming languages, compilers, runtimes, and developer experiences that enable Meta engineers to build high-performance and efficient software. We support, evolve, and scale programming languages and toolchains (e.g. C++, Rust, Golang, Hack, Python, and Java) to deliver state of the art developer experiences.

We are looking for a technical, highly motivated Software Engineering Manager who drives teams supporting developer infrastructure, including compiler toolchains, 3rd party management systems, language evolution, and server efficiency.Software Engineering Manager, PL&R Responsibilities

• Communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with clients and peer teams to facilitate cross-functional projects.
• Execute programming language strategies for developer productivity and efficiency.
• Operate strategically and tactically. Develop strategy and help set direction for the team.
• Remain up-to-date on ongoing software development activities in the team, help work through technical challenges, and be involved in design decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering work experience, including hands-on technical management
• 5+ years experience coding in one of the following languages: C++, Java, Rust, Golang, Python and/or PHP
• Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, leading technical organizations, including performance management.
• Technical expertise in developer tools such as IDEs, debuggers, compilers, runtimes, profilers, low level and core libraries, or 3rd party library management systems.
• BA/BS in Computer Science (In lieu of degree, 4+ years work experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience driving programming language usage and adoption strategies.
• Experience with supporting infrastructure based teams targeting developer productivity and efficiency.
• Hands on experience with JDK/JVM, rustc, clang/llvm/gcc/icx , or golang

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
