Are you passionate about developing cutting-edge display software for safety-critical commercial and military avionics applications? At Collins Aerospace, we are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Displays software team in Cedar Rapids, IA. Your expertise will help shape the future of avionics display solutions, contributing to the safety and efficiency of both commercial and military aircraft. Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
What You Will Do:
You will design, develop, document, test, and/or debug low-level software utilizing SoC peripherals to perform data exchange with discrete hardware.
You will design, develop, document, test, and/or debug middleware and application software containing logical and mathematical algorithms.
You will coordinate with other project team members in the planning, design, development, and utilization of display systems to ensure smooth operations on software engineering activities.
You will ensure compliance with program and product requirements and certification processes.
What You Will Learn:
You will gain exposure to a variety of Avionics display systems and safety-critical software development.
You will learn about the latest in embedded C++, BSP software design, and graphics APIs such as OpenGL, Vulkan, or A661.
You will learn about the latest developments in display software technology.
You will enhance your problem-solving and integration skills working with complex hardware and software systems.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer:
Embedded C++ or Platform Level Software Experience.
Familiarity with RTOS environments and low-level software integration.
