<p><strong>Software Engineer</strong></p> <p><strong>We’re currently looking for a Software Engineer to join our partner company, Pixel Pioneers, an Australian boutique firm building innovative gaming and e-commerce products that shape the future of the industry.</strong></p> <p><strong>In this role, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager, translating product vision into clear strategy and guiding engineering and design teams through execution. The role focuses primarily on skill-based gaming and social gaming products.</strong></p> <p><em>Please note: This position is with Pixel Pioneers, not directly with VGW, and requires office attendance 4 days a week in Perth (with Friday WFH flexibility).</em></p> <p><strong>Key responsibilities will include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Developing, optimising, and maintaining features across backend services and frontend frameworks using TypeScript and JavaScript with React or Vue.</li> <li>Navigating, refactoring, and scaling large existing codebases and monorepos efficiently.</li> <li>Leveraging AI coding tools and agentic workflows to accelerate development and focus on architectural problem-solving.</li> <li>Translating Figma designs into performant UI, smooth interactions, and browser-based game experiences.</li> <li>Engaging in daily Git workflows, constructive peer code reviews, and squad-based pair programming.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you will bring to the role:</strong></p> <ul> <li>1–3 years of commercial experience demonstrating rapid learning, adaptability, and solid engineering fundamentals.</li> <li>Practical experience using TypeScript or JavaScript in backend services, modern component frameworks, or both.</li> <li>Daily hands-on experience with Git version control, pull requests, and peer code reviews inside established codebases.</li> <li>Proven ability to work independently on individual tasks while collaborating effectively within small teams.</li> <li>Comfort switching between tightly scoped legacy projects and fast-paced, AI-assisted workstreams.</li> <li>Based in Perth and available to work in our office four days a week, with Friday work-from-home flexibility.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About VGW</strong></p> <p>VGW is an interactive entertainment company, harnessing technology and creativity to deliver world-class, free-to-play online social games.</p> <p>Our high-quality, acclaimed brands include Monopoly Match, Chumba Casino, Global Poker and LuckyLand Casino, which are enjoyed by millions of players in North America.</p> <p>Our Social Plus games are based on a freemium model, meaning they are available to play at no cost, but i
