About the Team

The Code Lifecycle Engineering team develops software and tools to support all of Workday Application Development. We own the development pipeline for delivering a developer experience that provides reliable and useful feedback for merging code with confidence; and we are passionate about improving developer productivity.

About the Role

Become a Software Engineer in our Tooling organization, at the foundation of Workday’s technology, building software that empowers engineering teams to develop and deliver high quality products quickly. Our team currently serves the 2000+ Workday development community by providing scalable development tools that are vital to support an efficient and continuous delivery platform. We are a team of highly skilled full-stack engineers capable of performing tasks at any level of our technical stack, within the AWS Cloud platform. Our work is not driven by external product launches, but is driven by the needs of our development community, which allows us to focus on producing well thought out solutions that improve our development environment and pipeline.

Software Engineer – Test Tools Platform

Our Test Tools Platform provides all Applications Developers at Workday a test execution system for validation of code and metadata changes via local or remote execution. Our team owns the suite of tools that drive the Test Development experience: UI test runner and reporter, centralized collector, parser and query of terabytes of data. We leverage key software technologies to make it happen: React, Java/Scala, Rest APIs, MySQL and MongoDB.

Our team follows a hybrid remote model and is built on collaborative team work and trust. We love Slack and build our processes around asynchronous communication: from code design to code reviews, we got a slack channel for it. Because we are also human, we value face-to-face time, during the moments that matter. Our customers are like minded engineers like yourself. As such, our teammates are focused on just one thing: building great software tools!

About You

• You love coding and feel "getting in a developer flow" is better than "getting in a meeting"
• You can support the release planning by understanding the details (effort, risk, priority) of the planned features
• You love to collaborate with peers, engineering managers, and principal engineers on technical designs and implementation of new features
• You will be an evangelist of our technologies and products. Communicate across multiple teams to showcase new features and functionalities

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience and fluency in Java or Scala
• BS in Computer Science, related fields, or equivalent work experience

Other Qualifications:

• Experience working with automated or web testing software
• Proficiency with tools and processes such as revision control, requirement specs, unit & system tests, etc.
• Proven ability to take leadership role in projects, ability to deliver on time working in a fast-paced agile environment
• Ability to work with product managers to clarify and prune requirements, strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with AWS cloud service
• Experience developing REST APIs
• ReactJS development experience
• Extensive experience of working in an Agile environment
• Proven record of working with Continuous Delivery toolchains
