Lanai will offer a software platform that helps companies adopt AI-based models and applications in a productive, cost-effective, and secure manner. Lanai was founded in early 2023 by Steve Herrod (former CTO of VMware) and the talented team at Juxtapose. Lanai has received substantive funding from top-tier VC firms and will release its first product later this year.

What You’ll Do

• Own the design and implementation of our Machine Learning infrastructure

• Develop and optimize AI technologies to streamline, automate, and optimize Lanai

• Develop custom models and algorithms to apply to large datasets, as well as processes for monitoring and analyzing their performance

• Mine and analyze data to build and train ML models that optimize customer experiences, customer acquisition, and other business outcomes

• Collaborate cross functionally to deploy AI solutions

• Be results-driven to consistently deliver software improvements to our users

• Produce high-quality, production-ready, readable, maintainable code

• Lend your technical expertise to unblock and invest in other engineers on your team

What You Bring 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• 4+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying ML models in real world production systems, preferably at least 1 year at a seed, Series A, or Series B company

• Experience in using Python for analysis and modeling with ML frameworks and libraries (Scikit-learn, Pytorch, Tensorflow, LightGBM, Keras, etc.)

• Deep knowledge of LLMs concepts - Prompt Engineering, RAG and fine-tuning LLMs

• Experience building deep learning and transformer model

• Experience working in a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, Azure

  • Our current stack is AWS, EKS, ReactJS, NestJS, GraphQL, Postgres, Hashicorp Vault, Python, Golang, AWS Sagemaker

• Ability to share findings in easy to consume formats, whether that is through dashboards or data modeling

• Designing and building data pipelines for production level ML infrastructure

• A self starter owner’s mentality with an unquenchable desire to learn

• Sharp at problem solving, critical thinking, and systems thinking

• Proactive communicator, both verbal and written, around technical decisions and project deadlines

• Biased towards action and speed of delivery

Working Environment

Lanai is based in the SF Bay Area and we have an intentionally flexible hybrid approach to work. We have a regular in-office cadence for team connection and brainstorming sessions, with the flexibility for remote work the rest of the time. We use the best collaboration tools, schedule regular offsites, and plan for team bonding experiences.
