JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The System Design Department of the Sonar Research and Development Division within the Undersea System Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is looking for two highly motivated Software Engineers to work on SONAR research and development programs with a focus on design, development and deployment of embedded systems. You will be involved end-to-end system development from design through deployment and field-testing.
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
Responsibilities include:
- Software development, testing, and deployment
- Support of existing codebases
- Conversion of algorithms developed in Matlab to embedded code running c/c++ and/or Python
- Code documentation, presentation of results
Minimum education and experience is a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or other science/engineering discipline.
Requires skills and experience include:
- C/C++
- Python
Preferred experience include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- Understanding of Linux operating systems
- Matlab
- Experience with system debugging tools such as Valgrind
- Knowledge of signal processing with focus on GPU programming with CUDA API
