The Role

FL97 is seeking an experienced, creative, and talented Software Engineer, Informatics to join our team.

You will be part of an agile, cross-functional team responsible for building and managing back-end services, ML model inference, and LIMS databases, as well as creating and integrating AI-enabled toolchains and data pipelines for our labs. Together with biologists, machine learning scientists, software developers, and other engineers, you will work toward building and automating AI-driven processes across a variety of valuable applications.

The ideal candidate has a software engineering background with biotech industry experience building informatics apps, API services, and databases to support scientific workflows.

Candidates should have experience and interest in:

• Designing, building, and managing back-end services to support scientific workflows
• Taking ownership of LIMS databases and data ingestion pipelines
• Developing and implementing AI-enabled toolchains for the biology lab
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams of biologists, ML scientists, and automation engineers to translate workflows into digital automation
• Implementing rigorous testing, documentation, and CI/CD procedures

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Proven software/data engineering experience in lab informatics within a life sciences industry
• Deep understanding of fundamentals in databases, programming, and software development best practices
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, test-driven development, and CI/CD
• Expertise in Python for both data science and production infrastructure settings
• Experience training and deploying ML models in production
