The ideal candidate is passionate about learning the Fintech domain and delivering cutting-edge, high-quality solutions to solve business problems. We utilize a progressive, test-driven, Agile development methodology that places a high premium on communication, teamwork, sound design and clean implementation. 
This is a hybrid role which will require you to gain expertise in the configuration of business rules in a 3rd party decision engine software application, while also building and maintaining supporting integration services as part of a robust decision engine platform. In this role you will directly manage a microservice-based ecosystem providing data to our business decisioning system and will also be responsible for highly detailed and large volume business outcome test simulations.

Problems You Will Solve

• Design and build mission scalable, resilient, micro-service based distributed architecture systems
• Design, build, and support core backend software components
• Deploy highly complex business rules/configuration changes using our decision/rules engine platform
• Manage integrations with decision/rules engine API data layer, including data aggregations and transformations
• Partner with cross-functional product and analytics teams to steer or contribute to large scale strategic projects, as well as solve ongoing operational problems at scale
• Use engineering skill sets in a business organization to drive meaningful business impact by looking at problems through an operational lens
• Self-identify gaps, problems, needs, and create robust solutions with relative freedom
• Migrate existing on-prem services to modern cloud technologies
• Work with a team of passionate, smart, and ambitious engineers who are working on building large scale systems at Prosper Marketplace
• Learn from and help shape our company's engineering culture

All About You

• BS in EE/CS with 5+ years of experience or MS in EE/CS or other applicable disciplines with 3+ years of experience
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithms, OO design, and distributed systems architecture
• Ability to design and build RESTful services
