Software Engineer II - UI/UX (Qt/QML)
MedtronicAbout the role
At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.
A Day in the Life
At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We’re working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.
As a Software Engineer II - UIUX (QtQML) you'll build the application surfaces that mapping specialists and electrophysiologists work in during every Prism case — the panels, controls, workflows, and interactions that turn an extraordinarily complex system into something a clinician can drive. As an SWE II on the UI/UX team, you'll write Qt/QML, Python, and C++ on Linux; implement designs handed off from UX designers; integrate with the data, signals, and visualization layers; and learn the interaction patterns that make medical UIs safe and clear under pressure. Expect to pair with more experienced engineers, attend design reviews, and ship workflow improvements that users notice.
About the Affera Prism Mapping System
The Affera Prism Mapping System is an advanced electrophysiology mapping platform used by physicians to diagnose and guide the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. It captures and processes signals from inside the beating heart, builds detailed real-time three-dimensional maps of cardiac anatomy and electrical activity, and presents that information to clinicians and mapping specialists during live procedures. Engineers on this team build the software that makes that possible — from the runtime and data pipelines that move signals in milliseconds, to the algorithms that turn raw signals into clinically meaningful information, to the visualization and UI surfaces clinicians rely on in the lab.
Primary Responsibilities
Implement application UI features in Qt/QML, with supporting Python and C++ on Linux.
Translate UX designs (typically delivered in Figma) into responsive Qt/QML implementations.
Own moderately scoped features or components and deliver end-to-end.
Make routine technical decisions within established team guidelines.
Contribute to subsystem design discussions and implementation planning.
Debug issues across components, with guidance as needed.
Participate in code reviews, integration, testing, and technical documentation.
Build understanding of broader system interactions and interfaces.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Qt/QML, PyQt, or a comparable application UI framework.
Experience implementing UIs from designs (Figma, Sketch, or similar handoffs).
Strong programming skills, understanding, and knowledge of Python/C++ or equivalent.
Ability to contribute in a mixed Python/C++ with
