Software Engineer II- The Windows Connected Experiences team

The Windows Connected Experiences team is looking for a highly motivated and innovative Software Engineer II to break new ground as we take our products to orders of magnitude higher scale and rock-solid reliability, build out the intelligence capabilities to dramatically deepen user engagement and create a great cross-device experience.  The team is responsible for connected experiences including Phone Link which enable PC users to access capabilities from their Android and iOS phones.   

As part of the Connected Experiences team, you will contribute to the connectivity fabric powering connected experiences for millions of Windows users.  This position will be responsible for areas related to device pairing and cross device communication including protocol design and implementation, security and authentication and integration with cloud services and mobile operating systems.  

Our mission it to help our customers achieve more by breaking the productivity limiting boundaries between devices (via cross-device features) and create seamless continuity between the Mobile and PCs.  Together with our partners, we are building engaging & differentiated cross device experiences across Windows PCs & Mobile Devices, strengthened by our best of breed expression of Mobile-first experiences on both 1st party & 3rd party hardware.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario. 
• Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform. 
• Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI). 
• Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items. 
• Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate. 
• Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
