We’re searching for a Software Engineer to join Aurora’s Map Creation Systems team and help us build efficient, high-performance backend services to quickly produce a high-quality, large scale HD Map, the Aurora Atlas.

In this role, you will

• Build high performance backend services to support the next generation of high-definition 3D maps to be used by the Aurora Driver.
• Develop and improve algorithms to edit and validate 3D geometric map data.
• Design scalable and intuitive APIs for teams across Aurora to query map data.
• Develop data structures and algorithms to efficiently process map data at scale.
• Collaborate with web tools and operations teams to rapidly develop services and APIs.
• Be passionate about quality at every level of design and implementation.

Required Qualifications

• BS/MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years experience developing REST API or gRPC web services.
• Minimum of 5+ years of Python development experience.
• Experience with geometry and graph algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience deploying production services using Kubernetes or similar technologies.

Desirable

• Experience with GIS, mapping, geospatial systems, or 3D geometry.
• Experience with C++ or Go.

The base salary range for this position is $144K-$216K per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
