The Xbox Experiences and Platforms engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer II to help us build the future shared Xbox experiences across PCs, Consoles, Handhelds, Mobile devices, Smart TVs, and Web browsers. These experiences range from storefronts and content discovery to gaming community and cloud gaming features. In your role you will work alongside a diverse team of engineers, Program Managers, and designers to create technologies that empower team Xbox to delight gamers no matter where they play. 

  

You will be collaborating on code bases that involve web and native code to create new ecosystem features and ship new experiences directly to gamers. Working with other developers on the team, your contribution will help drive new requirements and best practices into the platform. The Software Engineer II will work to understand the challenges we face in building these scalable experiences and continually improve the ecosystem of devices’ capabilities.

Responsibilities

 

  • Leading their feature team in researching and deploying an enhanced storefront experience, drawing from successful console strategies. 
     
  • Mentoring developers, aiding in their feature development, and advancing their technical skills. 
     
  • Contributing to the technical improvements of the Xbox experiences, emphasizing performance and quality. 
     
  • Providing strategic insights and planning for the integration of future gaming platform, aimed at unifying the Web UX/experience platform. 
     

This role is pivotal in driving these initiatives forward, ensuring our storefront not only meets but also exceeds the progressive expectations of our gaming community.

Qualifications

Required Qualifcations:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

 

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to,
