Software Engineer II, Growth & Advertising Platform

Candidates for this position should be based in Boston, MA and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements.

The Growth & Ads Platform team is responsible for building Wayfair's class leading, data centric technology platform that optimizes and powers Wayfair's advertising. It touches hundreds of millions of consumers and drives billions of dollars in annual revenue. Our platforms allow us to scale our marketing efforts efficiently by automating key processes, interacting with ad vendors in real time and leveraging massive amounts of data and ML algorithms for

optimization and effective decision making on millions of items in our catalog. The types of systems built by this team range from low latency REST and Graph QL APIs, to streaming systems processing large volumes of daily events in real time, to large scale batch systems.If you love to solve real business problems at scale, in a fast-paced, high growth and agile environment, this is the role for you!

 

What You’ll Do:

• Drive high-impact solutions at a team level, including inception, design, execution, and delivery following good design and coding practices
• Leverage GCP native services to build systems that are scalable and focus on solving business problems
• Write code to implement high-quality, scalable services that will have effective system boundaries and will support long-term vision & strategy
• Produce high quality documentation for systems built, and be an active code reviewer.
• Provide required production support to ensure that systems satisfy SLA and availability needs. Respond to incidents if required, owning resolution and communication
• Work closely with partner teams such as Storefront and Catalog, as well as stakeholders from Marketing
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and peer engineering teams to define project requirements and execution plans

We Are A Match Because You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years of experience in engineering. eComm domain expertise and/or experience working with advertising platforms such Google Ads or Meta Ads would be a bonus
• Experienced in designing and building large-scale, cloud-based systems 
• Ability to work with relational databases. Experience working with GBQ or equivalent and an understanding of NoSQL databases.
• Experience working with streaming solutions such as dataflow or Kafka would be a big plus
• Experience working with GCP and Terraform would be a big plus
• Expertise with a modern programming language (such as Python, Java, Scala, GO, or others). Java experience preferred.
• Experience operating distributed services at scale, including familiarity with observability tools, logging techniques, troubleshooting, and incident response.
• Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving solutions forward and ability to influence results
