We are looking for a passionate software engineer to join the Global Transportation Systems (GTS) Trip Execution team, the team responsible for the systems that enable our delivery network, allocate trailers and Trucks to transport shipments to ensure that customer promises are met, assign routes and lanes, publish milestones tracking events for the shipments, notify warehouse facilities about shipments, send EDI message to Carriers, collect necessary geo fencing data, receive events from trans oceanic carriers to use Wayfair’s internal service to reduce transportation costs and modify/create tools for operations . As part of our team, you will be solving complex problems that have a direct impact on our supply chain operations and end-customers.
For this role, we need a software engineer that will influence our software technology transformation architecture to keep up with industry standards, build microservices and mentor their peers to drive advancement initiatives within their team to improve systems, practices, and software delivery. You will be working in a results-oriented team that highly values good collaboration and autonomy. The tech stack includes Java, Kafka, PHP, React and a mix of GraphQL, REST, RDBMs,Terraform,GCP, C# and K8s among others.

- Work on a diverse group of systems that covers everything in the web stack
- Work with several large and complex data stores and queries
- Develop algorithms to streamline back end business workflow
- Contribute to architectural and code review discussions impacting our engineering ecosystem
What You'll Need:
- Effective communication skills
- Goal-oriented, collaborative, pragmatic, and continuous improvement mindset
- Experience working as a Software Engineer
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases
- Knowledge of HTTP and web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Experience working with event-driven architectures, DDD, and TDD
- Abstract thinking skills
- Experience and desire to work in an agile environment
- Interest in being challenged in a fast-paced environment while having fun
- Analytical and creative mindset and passion for solving business problems with technology
- Ability to quickly translate business requirements into working features
- Ability to break down complex features into small usable parts
