Software Engineer II, Catalog Edge Engineering

Catalog Edge engineering teams build business critical systems and data platforms that power Wayfair.com. Our services provide qualitative and quantitative data about all Wayfair products to both internal users and other systems at Wayfair. We operate at a very high level of scale, our services are typically always in the customer path, and the website does not work if our services fail. Our team serves as an accelerant to other teams, helping them deliver important customer facing features. We are the glue of the website, providing up to date Product Catalog data at lightning speed. We are looking for Java proficient developers to help us re-platform into the next generation of our tech stack. What You'll Do

• Build distributed data read systems that power Wayfair.com
• Use Java coding expertise to develop repeatable patterns for development success
• Collaborate with high performing engineers across many domains
• Design technical solutions to business challenges
• Partner with Product Managers to understand the difficulties of the business
• Build open source solutions and enrich our engineering culture
• Leverage Apollo GraphQL concepts to transform data orchestration at Wayfair
• Channel technical creativity and push boundaries for the business

What You'll Need

• Java proficiency
• 5+ years of professional software development
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Deep familiarity with source control (git/github)
• Experience building high availability microservices at significant scale
• Deep understanding of SQL/noSQL database technology
• Mastery over effective use of metrics and observability
